How to Clear the "Heavy Energy" of March 3rd

Did the Lunar Eclipse on the 3rd of March leave you feeling a little… frayed? You aren't alone. In the world of the Craft, eclipses are famous for "unearthing" buried emotions and stagnant energy. While that's great for growth, it often leaves our sanctuaries feeling heavy, cluttered, and energetically "dusty."

If you’ve felt unusually tired, irritable, or stuck in a rut this week, it’s time for a Post-Eclipse Purge. Here is how to reset your sanctuary and reclaim your focus for the rest of March.

1. The "Counter-Clockwise" Banishment

When we cleanse after a major lunar event, we aren't just making things smell nice, we are moving energy. To get rid of the "eclipse hangover," you must move Widdershins (counter-clockwise).

Starting at your front door, move through your home in a counter-clockwise circle. This motion is traditionally used in folklore to banish, diminish and release what no longer serves you.

Practitioner’s Tip: Open at least one window while you do this. If the heavy energy has nowhere to go, it will simply settle back into the corners of the room.

2. Grounding the "Electrical" Static

Eclipses are high-voltage events. If your mind feels like it has too many tabs open, you need to ground that "static" back into the Earth.

Take a piece of Black Tourmaline or Hematite and hold it in your dominant hand. Visualise the frantic, buzzing energy of the last week flowing down your arm, through the stone, and deep into the soil beneath you.

3. Resetting the Altar

Your altar is the "battery" of your practice. After an eclipse, the tools on your altar can hold onto the "shadow" energy of the event.

1. Clear the Surface: Dust your altar with a damp cloth (add a drop of lavender oil if you have it).
2. Charge with Selenite: Lay a Selenite wand across your Tarot decks or crystals to "neutralise" their charge.
3. Light a Fresh Flame: Once the space is clear, light a single white candle to signify the return of "balanced" light.
