Turning The Wheel
Celebrating the Wiccan Sabbats
The Wheel of the Year is a sacred cycle of eight sabbats celebrated by Wiccans and witches around the world. Rooted in ancient seasonal festivals, these turning points invite us to honour the Earth’s rhythms, the sun’s journey, and the changing tides of our spiritual path.
The Eight Sabbats
Each sabbat marks a unique phase in nature’s cycle, planting, blooming, harvesting, restin, —and aligns with powerful magical energy. Together, they create a full circle of life, death, and rebirth.
- Samhain (Oct 31): The Witches’ New Year. A time to honour ancestors, work with spirit, and release the old.
- Yule (Winter Solstice): Celebration of the rebirth of the Sun. Ideal for hearth magic, renewal, and inner light.
- Imbolc (Feb 1): Festival of Brigid. Sparks of spring, purification, and setting intentions.
- Ostara (Spring Equinox): Balance of day and night. Fertility, growth, and new beginnings.
- Beltane (May 1): Fire and fertility. Passion, creativity, and celebration of life’s spark.
- Litha (Summer Solstice): The height of solar power. Abundance, joy, and manifestation magic.
- Lughnasadh (Aug 1): First harvest. Gratitude, sacrifice, and creative labour.
- Mabon (Autumn Equinox): Second harvest. Balance, reflection, and preparing for shadow work.
